43.1

http://www.galaxybirmingham.co.uk/the-galaxy-playlist-2007 - 6th October 2010 1000
From looking at their playlist I can see that this style is aimed at a range of ages 15 to people in their late 20s as the music is clubbing type of music and very poppy and upbeat. The music all is all type of music that is also played in clubs.
From listening to radio one I can tell that it is an age range of 16 – late 20 year olds as well but the music is not all from clubs really a little of everything to suit every bodies taste.
http://www.heart.co.uk/westmids/shows/last-10-songs/ - 7th October 2010 1057
This is targeted at a wide range of people as they play new and old music so they get more of a wider range of people at different ages.
http://www.1073touchfm.co.uk/played - 8th October 2010 0930
The playlist for touch play old and new songs which I personally think is a great way to get a wide range of a target audience to get both elderly and young listeners to tune in to touch radio.
http://www.galaxybirmingham.co.uk/sacha-brooks-homepage-6429 - 6th October 2010 1023
By looking at the presenter you can see she will have a high pitched voice and also be very fast pace this is to make the audience feel more awake and but isn’t too much happening in the background. For example no silly noises repeatedly been played, just music in the background that is about to be played or music that has just been played.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/fearnecotton/ - 6th October 2010 1219
Fearn Cotton is a very attractive woman and from this men from ages 16 – late 20s 30s will also think she is attractive and like to hear her voice. She is also know to have a very good personality and knows how to have a laugh. She has a high pitched fast pacing voice which brings the listeners more alive and listen to watch is going on.
http://www.1073touchfm.co.uk/ben--louisa-home-702822 - 8th October 2010 0954
These presenters look fun and also good looking they look like a funny team to be with, by putting Ben and Louisa on in the morning they are up and make people feel more awake and help them with the mood they are in for the morning. They are a fast pace and high pitched. But this is to make the listeners stay tuned and listen to touch radio.
http://www.galaxybirmingham.co.uk/showbiz-news-6580 - 6th October 2010 1200
You can also see by the features they talk about of how much it fits with there target audience. For example they talk about celebrities who are new and hit at the minute telling us more about them and what is going on with them at the minute. As well as facebook stories, music and films which are also for our target audience which are being released soon, and gossip of people have said about other celebs.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/ - 6th October 2010 1227
There features are all relevant to what us, the target audience are interested in. for example they talk about TV programmes, celebrities and games.
http://www.1073touchfm.co.uk/daytime-dish-850323 - 8th October 2010 1040
The features on this radio show are for different ages. For example the link below takes you the ‘daytime dish’ which no person at the age of 15 – 19 years old would do in my personal opinion. They also talk about local news as well as headlines and showbiz and of course the traffic news.
BBC radio one i was listening to on television and Scott Mills was on air 6-7pm and from listening to this i can say that Scott mills has a low pitch voice and has a slow pace which makes him say 3 words in one second which gets the message across to what he is talking about. His voice tells me that this radio station is a upbeat happy radio station. The mode of address is the presenter to make us the listeners happy alive and awake and entertain us. The BBC radio one has done research from not only there station but other companies to see what we are really like to make features on how there target audience would be interested in listening to and maybe even get us to call in and have our own say. What amazed me though is when Zane Lowe came in for the 7 till 9pm he picked his first song to be bullet for my valentine which is very odd and a change of the audience because Scott played his last song as Rihanna only girl which is a completly different genre of music to bullet as they are a rock band. In my personal opion he did this for reason i cant not think of, and then for his second song he out was a different genre again. His voice was very clear and sounded a little hyperactive, because he didn’t really pause but when the music stopped and came back to the presenter. The projection was as all stations should be where they leave about 2 seconds pause after a song has finished then start talking.
Touch FM 1073 i was listening to on the internet at 708pm is different station to BBC radio one. When i went on the song playing was acoustic, presenting was Ollie Gallant. He had a low pitch voice and slow pace they have good projection his voice was clear but there was a part where they had music playing and symbol of fireworks and they didn’t really go well together in my opinion as they was just talking over each other the fireworks were too loud that you could really hear what the person saying was. In this pace the voice quickened during the adverts playing. This station plays different genres making their target audience a bigger range given them more listeners.
Heart FM i listened to on my radio in my kitchen whilst washing the dishes. It is almost but not quite the same as Touch fm. They played when i tuned in at 744pm an old song my mum likes called fame which is also from the film but this came out in 80’s but then after that had finished they played a more recent which is the script heartbroken. Which shows what i ment by a bigger range of listeners but in my opinion the music playlist is all my type of music. The presenter was low pitch and slow pace making him very clear to hear what song was coming on next. He had a that sounded a wake happy and enthusiastic. But he only talked when changing songs.

Evaluation

Through out this assignment I believe my group had some strengths and weakness through out the assignment, when we was first put into our groups I felt very out of my comfort zone, but I also knew this was a chance for me to show I could be out of my comfort zone.
One of the weakness’s we had was bad communication skills, as we was in a big group they decided that we would split the group in to two groups one doing the morning show and the other the afternoon. The girls and I tried to see what the boys were doing and tried to make sure we knew what they was doing and how we could be involved in there show.
When the day actually came I had done nothing apart from make the music for the background of the news for the boys. I tried to make myself be able to be able to talk in the radio show but had no chance of that happening as I didn’t even have a mic to share. I felt like I would not get the grades I could have been got if I was more involved and knew this is a bad weakness of mine that needs to be improved now. I felt not very trust worthy as I was not given any work to do or even asked for my option through out any of this. I was hardly even kept up to date with any of the work that was been done.
At the beginning of the show we was going too fast it was 3 minutes if that talking and then going into a song so we had to add bits in and also. The only part where I wanted to actually get involved as I had played in the game was call of duty and boyfriends I thought I could have actually spoke but I had no chance of getting a microphone to speak.
We had a very good happy laughter atmosphere whilst talking our weakness however was keeping prepared we did not have enough things to talk about and when we did no one would jump in and help. I couldn’t since I had no mic and when I asked if I could i was just told one person to a mic. So I kept quiet in the corner as I listened and wrote down everything we was talking about and helping me write my evaluation.
Ella, Chelsea and Liv had high pitch and low pace voices and it to me felt like it gave more listeners into the show. Because they was talking clear and Ella was sat up straight making more air into her lungs to speak, as Liv was loud and clear which was good as the listeners could hear what we was talking about.
Jack how ever had a low pitch slow pace voice, which in my case was a little boring as you loose the listeners if you talk slowly. Overall we did do a good job since we was all panicking and felt like we was under a lot of pressure, we just made sure we was having a good time talking and listening to music which we knew would make the listeners feel the same way.
Ella and Chelsea were the presenters of the show you could tell this from how much they spoke to each other through out the show, it made the show what it was to be honest as it would have been very quiet and would have been song after song after song which would have not really of given us more of what we could do as usual.
As for the boys I have no idea where they were or what they did as they were not in the room with us but there feature did come up. Which had Brett in. overall If I had to do this again I would make sure that we had more communication skills in the team and also make sure that not only me but every knew what was going on, even better would have made a time take of what should be done where and what time etc that way everyone would have a rough idea on what we going on and you could catch up easily, also I would of preferred if out group had not split up at all and we stayed as one whole group as to me this caused more complications.

Techniques

There different techniques used in the radio industry.
You can use a high pitch fast pace which would make the listeners not understand what the presenter is saying as they would be talking at a fast pace which would make them turn over the station. By saying high pitch this makes the audience feel happy and excited If the presenter feels this way to. Voice is very important in the radio industry as this brings listeners to the station.
For example if we was to have a low pitch and slow pace presenter on the morning you would as the listener feel more tired and dull as this is what the presenter would also be feeling. It would be slow dull and boring.
Also unexpected voice is effective in radio, for example using different expressions, whispering when something is secretive would bring more enthusiastic and fun to the radio show.
Keeping an average speed of voice through out the show is very important as your listeners need to hear what you are saying especially if it is a important message you are trying to get through to your listeners. The way to keep an average speed is to remember 3 words is a second.
Pausing during the show makes the listeners no you are changing subject, for example in he news they pause for about a second which then they speak about a different subject. It also bring a dramatic effect. The reason I no this is because nothing. Is happening and you are expecting something to happen so you listen to see what is going to happen.
Talking and communicating are two different things. For example you can be talking to someone about to have a conversation, but no radio listeners want to hear two people over each other communicating. You have to make sure only one talks at a time so the listener gets both sides of the conversation. Communicating is using words to connect with the listeners from topics you choose and the words you use for the topic you talk about.
EQ may be muffled at times, EQ which means equaliser is an audio processing tool used for digitally communication. It allows us to manipulate high pitch and low pitch.

Researching into existing figures and profiles

http://www.1073touchfm.co.uk/directory 15th October 2010 1148
Touch FM has a target audience of a bigger range of listeners. From the site above I can see that they talk about different verity of topics. Some of these are aimed at listeners at the age of 17+ as people that age are starting to drive. How ever listeners that age are not interested in carpets, gardening and locksmiths as people at the age of 20+ would as some people this age have houses and may need this information. But there is something for all of us that we all like for example we all like clothing and hair and beauty and parties/events.
http://www.heart.co.uk/ 15th October 2010 1200
Heart FM in my opinion seems more for teenagers as they talk about celebrities and it is more of a woman’s type of radio station. They talk about love songs, hair and beauty and health. However they do have a dating site on there website as well which brings people from ages 18+ also the news that they talk about is for all ages as well for example they talk about a lost painting that could be worth £190 million that was lost in a sofa and could be the lost Michelangelo painting. I find that pretty interesting to be honest so this is aimed at listeners from ages 18+
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/ 22nd October 2010 1145
The BBC however have a target audience of mostly people at ages 15 – late 20’s, the topics they talk about are what gets you your listeners. In this case, they talk about football, which is aimed at boys interested in football as well as girls. Then we also talk about celebrities, which is aimed at girls who are interested in what the big stars are doing. And also of course talk about music which songs have come out and what songs they like and giving them there opinion the song. Which gets us as the listeners to interact and get involved.

Platforms of braodcasting music programmes

http://www.1073touchfm.co.uk/ 20th October 2010 0930
Touch FM has lots of cross media these are internet connection to the radio, Ben and Louisa are on at, 0600-1000 on weekdays and on Saturdays at 1100-1200 and then Louisa Ryan 1000-1200 on weekdays. The style of touch is light hearted. The presenters are not our age but they talk like they are by using high key and low key they can either excite us or make us listen to important information which makes us listen to this station, as well and the music they play and the features they talk about.
There target audience is aimed at people from ages 16 to 30 years old, the reason I have said such a big age range is because of the music they play. It is not only just for people in their 20s but old music that brings back memories of when people who are 30 – 40 can remember the old days and the music they like.
The music is the main key to knowing who the target audience is and in this case you can tell by the music and also by the features they talk about for example, in this station they talk about health and beauty, weddings, Christmas parties. I believe that this station is more aimed at females because of the love songs they play but I also know that some boys like love songs as well so a little of the listeners will be boys. The features they talk about are what there target audience talk about every day in life to friends and also what they want to no.
I believe that the audience would like to see what there listeners are doing so I would add a web cam to it making them being able to go online any time and see what they do on camera. Not every one has time to listening to the radio so having a iplayer on there internet I great as there listeners can always just go on the internet when possible and download an hours of radio and just listen to it whilst on there journey on a plane or on the train.
http://www.heart.co.uk/ 20th October 2010 1422
Heart radio station has Nick Snaith 1300 – 1600. This station is different to touch FM as the presenter doesn’t talk in a style to catch a target audience of ages 16 – 18 years’ olds I personally feel. This is for people who are older, in there 20’s – 40? Because the music is from an older generation as well as some of the news ones that are being played in clubs and just have a happy environment type of tune to it.
There features are different they do talk about the news but also they talk a lot about celebrities, this is targeted more at boy then girl I see as the features are not always for men but mostly for woman. Some of the features are for both but mostly they are for woman. I can not explain how I see this.
This has a webcam and also iplayer so you can downloads also they have an app you can add to your phone now which is very easy to use and convenient for people always on the move. This makes them have more listeners as they can just put in there phone and listen.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/ 20th October 2010 1458
Dev 1330 – 1530. The style of this show is light hearted, the presenter uses high and low key to make the show more inviting and make you want to listen to what he is talking about and what he is so excited about and what he’s talking about.
The target audience I believe is 16 – late 20’s you can hear this as the music is also the same as songs played in clubs as well and some that are not but are new releases. The features talked about on the show are about celebrities and also students at university. This is there target audience.
This station has a webcam which allows us to go online and watch them as they are online so we are not only hearing there voice but also what they are doing they also do podcast and app for mobiles which is good for people on the go or want to listen to the radio whilst on the bus to college or work.
